TULIPS

tulip/tulips

Your source for quality discount tulip bulbs.

Tulips are one of the most common flower bulbs and flower in the spring. They come in various varieties, colors and heights. Today tulips come in so many beautiful colors including whites, pinks, yellows, reds, purples and combinations of colors in the variegated tulips, for example, red with white stripes. I think tulips look their best planted in groups. You can be creative and plant a group of pink tulips beside a group of pink and white variegated tulips, and then a group of white tulips. The effect is a gentle blend of color.

Tulips come in three height categories, dwarf, medium or tall. Dwarf tulips are great for borders. They can also be planted in a rock garden or along a pathway. They can be as short as six inches.

Tulips may be planted in the fall or in the early spring, but do not plant when the soil is frozen. They do not need especially fertile soil. Plant the tulip bulb with the pointed end up and follow the directions for the planting depth. Smaller bulbs may be planted more shallowly. Tulip bulbs may be planted in layers in a container, with the largest tulip bulbs on the bottom layer and smaller ones closer to the surface. This way you can produce a container with tulips flowering continuously for many weeks.
